Yamunotri Tour Package

The most western shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas is located top the western side of Bandar Poonch Parvat and is dedicated to Yamunotri, the source of the river Yamuna. Yamuna's temple and the sacred hot springs at Jankichatti, both 7 km apart, are Yamunotri's main draws. Since it is inaccessible, the actual source, a frozen lake of ice and glacier (Champasar glacier, also known as Yamunotri Glacier), which is situated on the Kalind mountain at a height of 4421 m above sea level, is not frequently visited and has instead been placed at the base of the hill. Because the approach is so challenging, worshippers perform pooja at the temple itself.

The most famous temple is the shrine of Yamuna Ji. A few hot springs that have boiling water that bursts out of mountain crevices may be found close to this temple. The major kund is named Surya Kund. A small amount of rice or potatoes are dipped in it and removed from it after a short while, completely cooked. As prasad, these are brought home. Before Yamunaji is worshipped, the Divya Shila, a shrine located next to Surya Kund, is worshipped.
